Bi Day”

Get to know the Bisexual Pride Flag

The meaning behind the colours of the Bisexual Pride Flag

  • Pink: Attraction to the same gender
  • Purple: Attraction to two genders
  • Blue: Attraction to the opposite gender

Creator: Michael Page
He created the Bisexual Pride Flag in 1998 from the inspiration of the “bisexuality triangle.”.

Birth of “Bi Day” in 1999

The bisexual community established September 23 as “Bi Day” every year to raise awareness, letting more people know about the existence of the bisexual community and the Bisexual Pride Flag.

Former Chairman of BiNet USA, Wendy Curry, recalled: “We need something so that when we go to a pride parade, people know that it’s us, and we’re not hidden.”

Bisexual Pride Flag copyright controversy

In 1998, when Michael Page created the flag, he mentioned that the flag is free for everyone to use, whether for personal or commercial purposes.

In 2020, BiNet USA (one of the world’s oldest bisexual organizations) claimed that they owned the copyright of the Bisexual Pride flag and that a fee would be needed to use the flag for commercial profit-making purposes. It encouraged people to report the selling of Bisexual Pride Flags proactively.

The controversy caused a lot of hatred toward the bisexual community.
